Between 1954-2015, the W. Darroch Crookes Perpetual Trophy was presented to the Sun Valley Ski Club Champion for the season.

Five skiers from the Pacific Northwest hailing from Washington went to Europe for the 1936 Olympic games, including W. Darroch Crookes from Seattle and Don Fraser, Gretchen Fraser’s husband. The W. Darroch Crookes Perpetual Trophy was started by Richard S. Frank.

“Darroch Crookes had significant potential for the future and if Crookes had come to Europe sooner and practiced more, he would have given the rest of the boys a run for their money.”
—U.S. Ski Team Coach

Award recipients’ names are engraved on the W. Darroch Crookes Perpetual Trophy, which is displayed in the SVSEF Training Center at Warm Springs.
