This award is given annually to the overall winner of the Alpine Home Team race series consisting of 3 events. It is named after Craig “Cheeso” Kjesbo who was a long time coach of SVSEF whose passion for skiing was insurmountable.

Cheeso was such a lover of skiing that he would often go hike and ski Durrance Mountain north of Ketchum either before ski team on the weekdays or after on the weekends.  His motto was “There is no bad snow, just bad skiers.”  No matter what the conditions were, he would always say “Wasn’t the skiing great today!”  The SVSEF U12 programs honor him each year with “Cheeso Day” where the teams ski all of the bowls on Baldy in one day – no matter the conditions.

Award recipients’ names are engraved on the Cheeso Trophy, which is displayed in the SVSEF Training Center at Warm Springs.
