Between 1982-2016, the Kathleen Harriman Mortimer Trophy was awarded to the Fastest U12 Female at the Roy Hobson Memorial Race. Since 2017, it has been awarded to the Fastest U12 Female at the Gary Black, Jr. Memorial Race.

Kathleen was the daughter of Averell Harriman, founder of Sun Valley Resort. In 1940, Kathleen was the recipient of the Mary Cornelia Trophy, which was awarded to the combined winner in the Women’s Division of the Intercollegiate Ski Meet held in Sun Valley.

Olympians and SVSEF Alumni Picabo Street and Muffy Davis were the first two recipients of the award in 1982 and 1983 respectively.

Award recipients’ names are engraved on the Kathleen Harriman Mortimer Trophy, which is displayed in the SVSEF Training Center at Warm Springs.
