Allan Patterson Memorial Trophy
Between 1978-2000, the Allan Patterson Memorial Trophy was awarded to the Overall Winner of the FIS Downhill race series on Olympic Lane and Ridge finishing into lower River Run. In the year 2009 and 2010, the races were Super G’s on the Warm Springs side of Baldy.
Growing up in the Wood River Valley, Allan Patterson was a top-level alpine skier with Olympic aspirations on the Sun Valley Ski Team. Allan graduated Wood River High School in 1975 and unfortunately died in a tragic work-related accident in 1977. He had two nicknames, “Tork” and “Bino,” and was respected for his all-out attitude and for just being an outstanding all-around person. He was also known for his talent on the football field playing for the WRHS Wolverines.
Wood River High School also presents an annual award in Allan’s honor, where two outstanding senior athletes are selected for their achievements in extracurricular activities.
Award recipients’ names are engraved on the Allan Patterson Memorial Trophy, which is displayed in the SVSEF Training Center at Warm Springs.
