Camille Armeen claims Beverly Hay Cup on home snow

The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation (SVSEF) Snowboard Futures Team hosted and competed in the USASA Big Mountain West Series at Dollar Mountain Jan. 30 – Feb. 1. The three-day event featured two slopestyle competitions and a rail jam. At the culmination of the weekend, the prestigious Beverly Hay Cup was presented to the overall male and female champions from the combined slopestyle competition results.

SVSEF’s Camille Armeen dominated the Youth Women (15-16) division, claiming first place in both slopestyle events to earn the Beverly Hay Cup for overall female champion. The award, presented to the top male and female competitors across the weekend, also went to Asher Loscalzo of Park City Ski & Snowboard on the men’s side.

“The Sun Valley Futures Snowboard Team hosted and competed in our home USASA event this past weekend at Dollar Mountain,” said Coach Ed Sawicz. “The Sun Valley park crew did an amazing job building the courses and our athletes were excited to apply their hard work and put their training to the test!”

SVSEF athletes delivered consistent performances throughout the weekend, with multiple top-10 finishes across all divisions. Charlie Theobald showcased his versatility with a third-place rail jam finish and top-10 results in both slopestyle events. In the Junior Men (17-18) division, Uzzi Almaras secured a third-place finish in the first slopestyle and added a fourth-place result in the second event, while Karsen Miller earned second place in the final slopestyle competition.

The USASA (United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association) Big Mountain West Series provides competitive opportunities for youth snowboard athletes across the western United States, offering progression pathways from grassroots to elite-level competition.
