Overview
The SVSEF Cross Country Comp Team provides year-round training and racing opportunities for high school athletes who are motivated to grow as competitive cross-country skiers while developing a lifelong passion for endurance sport, teamwork, and the outdoors.
Our program supports athletes at every stage of development through structured training, expert coaching, and a positive team culture that emphasizes both athletic performance and personal growth.
Comp Team athletes participate in both dryland and on-snow training, with the additional opportunity to attend 2–3 training camps each year.
During the dryland season, athletes train throughout the Wood River Valley with activities that include trail running, rollerskiing, hiking, biking, strength training, and rollerski treadmill sessions. Winter training primarily takes place at the Lake Creek Training Center north of Ketchum, with additional sessions held along the Harriman Trail as weather conditions allow.
Training begins the first week of May and continues through March.
NEW FOR 2026/27—First Year Comp (9th graders only)
First Year Comp is a component of our existing Comp Team, designed specifically for 9th-grade athletes as a bridge from Prep Team to full Comp Team training and competition. The program offers structured, year-round training and race opportunities, helping athletes build fitness, skills, and confidence in a supportive team environment.
