Overview
AMP Bike Program athletes train at local bike park facilities and singletrack trails over 3 day-a-week sessions spanning 2-week camps through the summer. The program teaches the “Six Skills” of the PMBIA (Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association) theory using a unique approach of bike park instruction and trail-based application.
The AMP program is tailored to youth athletes seeking to progress their technical confidence on a mountain bike. Though not focused on XC mountain bike racing, techniques learned in this program will complement training for mountain bikers of all abilities and disciplines. Younger athletes (Group 1) use a shorter session focused on fundamental skill building in bike parks and shorter trail rides. The older athletes (Group 2) will also use bike park facilities while prioritizing line selection and application of technical skills on longer, trail-based experiences.
AMP athletes will gain a solid foundation of bike handling skills upon which to build their personal mountain bike experience from bike parks to the backcountry, race courses and beyond.
