Team Overview
The Jr Big Mountain Team is designed for passionate middle school skiers who want to progress their skills across the mountain, with a focus on all-mountain progression, supporting athletes who are interested in competing in IFSA Big Mountain events.
ATHLETE PROFILE
This team is best suited for athletes who:
Are excited about skiing.
Are comfortable skiing all-mountain in a variety of snow and weather conditions.
Are interested in entering big mountain competitions.
Want to have fun while building strong fundamentals in freeride.
TEAM FOCUS
Athletes will develop all-around freeskiing skills including:
Big mountain terrain (line selection, cliff drops, variable snow conditions)
Air awareness and basic acrobatics through Air Barn training
TRAINING LOCATIONS
On-snow training will take place across the mountain, skiing in all conditions and terrain. Athletes will gain experience in jumps, cliffs, rails, hips, quarter pipes, cat tracks, and more.
Off-snow training is held at the Air Barn, where athletes will build trampoline skills, air awareness, and body control related to freeskiing.
Fall Dryland:
October 15, 2025 – November 20, 2025
Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm
Winter Training:
December 5, 2025 – March 30, 2026
Wednesday (On-Snow) 1:30-4:00pm
Thursdays and Fridays (On-Snow) 2:00-4:00pm
Thursdays (Air Barn) 4:30-5:30pm (transportation to the Air Barn after practice is available most days)
Saturdays (On-Snow) 10:00am-2:00pm
5 additional Air Barn sessions on Saturday mornings 10:00-11:00am (transportation to the hill after the session will be available)
Additional camp opportunities, subject to enrollment:

Must purchase SVSEF/Blaine County Student Season Pass through Sun Valley Company for current season.
Rotarun platter lift access included for all training days. If your athlete wants to ski all season on non-training days, Rotarun Season Passes are available online at rotarun.org.
Must purchase General Membership from U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
Must purchase IFSA Membership.
Grades 6-8, Ages 10-13
Ski all conditions anywhere anytime.
Must be independent; able to conduct oneself appropriately when unaccompanied.
Must be able to care for and maintain all ski equipment.
Responsible and accountable for hydration, nutrition, and proper layering for any weather.
Respect teammates, coaches, parents, and all mountain employees at all times.
Complete knowledge of Mountain Safety Policies.
Must adhere to SVSEF’s Code of Conduct.
IFSA Regional Events (examples Bogus Basin and Snowbasin)
Weekly emails on Tuesdays to parents including updates on plans based on weather, venue availability, etc.
