Cross Country Gold Team

The Gold Team offers year round programming for elite athletes with goals of domestic excellence and international success in the sport of cross country skiing.

[/accordion] [accordion title=”Team Schedule and Location”]The Gold Team is based out of the SVSEF Lake Creek Olympic Training Site and utilizes the plethora of trails and training venues the Wood River Valley has to offer. Training plans are developed on an individual basis with the Gold Team meeting for training 4-8 sessions per week. Gold Team athletes also have access to state of the art strength and recovery facilities at Zenergy at Thunder Springs and work closely with team massage therapist Brett Hansen.[/accordion] [accordion title=”Team Goal”]

The SVSEF Gold Team is designed to develop motivated elite athletes for National and International Success. The Gold Team program has a long history of cultivating skiers for future international competition by combining highly individualized coaching with a great team atmosphere. The Wood River Valley offers an exceptional array of foot training, rollerskiing, and on snow ski venues located in a stunning mountain environment. The Gold Team also serves as ambassadors for the SVSEF by promoting skiing and leadership within our own program through interaction with the SVSEF Cross Country youth development teams as well as throughout the larger community.

[/accordion] [accordion title=”Activities”]Gold Team training focuses on aiding athletes in achieving their goals for international success. Skiers follow a detailed specific plan built to progressively enhance fitness and technique capacities through the course of the year. Team members take part in fitness assessment activities such as treadmill lactate curve testing, uphill running, rollerski time trials, and strength evaluations. Training camp opportunities include summer training camps, glacier training, open USST camps, and early season on snow camps. Gold Team skiers take on a demanding race schedule that includes the Boulder Mountain Tour, NorAm/SuperTour competitions, U.S. Senior National Championships, European Alpen Cup race series, and optional marathon races. The competition season concludes with SuperTour Finals.[/accordion] [accordion title=”Equipment”]

Gold Team skiers will coordinate ski equipment needs for the upcoming season with Head Coach Chris Mallory. Athletes and coaches work closely with individual sponsors to makes sure their needs are met. Team ski jackets, training pants, lycra race suits and hats are provided by SVSEF through sponsorship with Bjorn Daehlie and Podium Wear. Team wax and equipment sponsors are Toko and Finite Ski Tools; additionally, athletes have the option to add individual sponsor logos to race suits. Skiers are provided lockers at Lake Creek for equipment storage.
