4,000 Turns, 105 Runs, and a Norwegian Fjord! 🇳🇴⛷️
Our SVSEF Alpine FIS Team traded the mountains for the indoors this fall, heading to SNØ in Oslo, Norway, for six days of focused slalom training—and plenty of turns!
Over 12 training sessions, eight athletes logged an impressive 105 runs and approximately 4,000 turns, dialing in technical fundamentals, refining movement patterns, and building consistency ahead of the winter season.
Training alongside athletes from several other nations added a competitive, high-energy atmosphere, while the small group allowed coaches Nik Angriman and Ben Roberts to provide individualized feedback and help athletes take ownership of their development.
And the work didn’t stop when the skis came off. Between sessions, athletes balanced rest, schoolwork, stretching, and recovery while coaches kept the skis tuned and ready for the next round.
Of course, no trip to Norway would be complete without a little adventure! On their day off, the team embraced Norwegian culture with a floating sauna experience on the Oslo fjord, overlooking the iconic Oslo Opera House, followed by lunch and exploring downtown Oslo.
Six days on snow. Thousands of turns. One strong start to the season. 💪
As Coach Nik Angriman shared, the project was about more than technical progress—it was also about building the professionalism, accountability, and team culture that will carry these athletes through the winter.
Athletes: Henry Nordstrom, Henry Schrauder, Ava Huey, Lucy Olson, Harper Pelland, Amilia Selznick, Marie Stumbaum, and Jasmine Smiley.
