SVSEF provides ski and snowboard programming to nearly 700 athletes in the Wood River Valley. Athlete of the Week is an opportunity to highlight individuals who embody the values championed by this organization; sportsmanship, citizenship, character, teamwork, creativity, passion and perseverance.

Wesley never complains and will ski any run. He is also very courageous, showing true grit after coming down with the flu; a tough way to get a personal flight to Boise. We are looking forward to seeing him soon back on team!”

Sarah Leidecker, Cross Country Prep

“Sarah is one of the most helpful, positive skiers we have ever had on the team. She is always the first one to volunteer to help, and completes any and every task with a huge smile on her face. Sarah is capable of finding the fun in every task – even earlier this year when a significant injury could have brought her down, she persevered through and came back grinning and raring to go. Last weekend at the Intermountain Youth Championships, Sarah showed her appreciation for the sport and the people around her when she jumped up on the microphone at the awards banquet and took it upon herself to thank all the coaches and volunteers at the event on behalf of all the other competitors, not something a typical 7th grader would be eager to do. Sarah’s kind, positive nature is contagious and with her hard work and appreciation for every part of the sport, she is an integral part of the Prep Team.”
