SVSEF Alpine North Series Team Shines at First Away Race of the Season
Alpine U12 ski racing athletes from across the Intermountain Division descended on Grand Targhee Jan. 11-12 for the North Series Giant Slalom (GS) races. At the end of two days of racing, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s U12 North Series team brought home two podium spots for the girls and three for the boys.
Always one of the team’s favorite away races came complete with snowy conditions both days with a little sun in the morning on Sunday, fog, powder skiing to the start, crashes, lost skis, good skiing, pool parties, BBQ’s in the finish area, and most importantly a whole lot of fun as a team.
“We saw some great skiing with the results to prove it from everyone along with some amazing powder skiing as well,” said SVSEF Alpine North Series Head Coach, Claudia Stern. “The staff are all super proud of their skiing, their team spirit, and their positive attitudes throughout the weekend with lots of cheering and helping out their teammates to get ready for their runs.”
On Saturday for the girls, Alta Questad brought home gold in the U12 division and Alex Grant came in third for the boys.
On Sunday, Alta Questad was first in the U12 girls again and Alex Grant brought home the gold, while Halsten Bruun took third in the boys.
