Team Overview
The Cross Country Summer Training Group is designed for high-level, Under-23 skiers seeking summer programming. Athletes are required to be enrolled in a Collegiate level NCAA or club program in order to participate. Run in conjunction with the Post-Grad program, the Summer Training Group offers 5-7 formal training sessions per week over three months. Training design is scheduled for flexibility around part-time jobs or other academic commitments. Cost includes all coaching, training planning, physiological testing, facilities use, and in-training transport.
Every session is planned with a development philosophy; thinking about every system and working toward the one goal of moving faster on skis. Training is also built around the idea of attacking individual weaknesses since this is the time collegiate athletes can make a big difference while out of school. The biggest improvements are often made when settling down in one place for a while and finding a good rhythm and consistent pulse in the training; The Summer Training Group complements this point! In general, the work is hard but the rewards are well worth the commitment. Interested athletes should contact Coach Peter Holmes at pholmes@svsef.org, for more program details before enrolling.
Interested athletes should fill out the 2024 Summer Training Group Application and send an email to the coach, Peter Holmes, at pholmes@svsef.org for more information.
Most weekly training will follow this format. More detailed team plans come out weekly. Individual training design is provided in one on one meetings with the head coach.
