SVSEF Alpine U14 First-Year Lead Coach

Founded in 1966, our program has become one of the premier Alpine skiing programs in the country, known for its commitment to developing world-class athletes while fostering a love for the sport. Our program encompasses a range of training modules, from introductory sessions for young enthusiasts to high-level competition preparation for advanced athletes. Over the years, SVSEF Alpine has produced numerous athletes who have gone on to compete at national and international levels, including Olympic and World Cup competitions. At the heart of our success is a deep-rooted belief in holistic development, where we focus not just on the technical aspects of skiing and sport but also on building strong character, such as sportsmanship and resilience. Our coaches, many of whom have extensive experience both as competitors and trainers, bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the program, enriching the training experience for every athlete. As we continue to evolve and grow, our commitment remains steadfast: to provide an environment where young athletes can flourish and reach their full potential both on and off the snow. The U14 First-Year Lead Coach works directly with the U14 Head Coach and the Alpine Director.

Job Salary- $35,000

Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation seeks a U14 First-Year Lead Coach for the 24/25 Season. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in alpine skiing, a commitment to building growth mindset culture and become a contributing member to the SVSEF community.  The position works directly with the U14 Head Coach and the Alpine Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Input on daily race training plans in conjunction with SVSEF U14 Yearly Plan & Race Schedule (On-Snow, Physical Training 5-6 Days per week, U14 IMD Race Schedule)
  • Help Manage Video Sessions & Sprongo
  • Aid in Training Session Management and Safety
  • Handle Travel, Billing & Communication for First-Year Projects and Trips
  • Attendance & Athlete Tracking, Record Keeping and End of Season Evaluations
  • Participate in Alpine Leadership Meetings and any other professional functions as directed by the Alpine Director
  • Support & Participate in Local Race Venue Set-Up, Safety Management and Race Day Course Crew

Requirements:

  • Prior Coaching Experience
  • USSA Level 100 or Higher (Can be in Process)
  • Must be able to pass and secure a US Ski and Snowboard Coaching License (background check, SafeSport, CPR/First Aid)
  • Advanced Level Skiing Skills
  • Ability to lift, carry, ski and load chairlift with up to 50lbs
  • Ski all terrain on mountain confidently
  • Ability to work with racing equipment, including but not limited to drills, gates, digital video equipment, timing equipment and alpine skiing equipment
  • Must know and meet Responsibilities and Expectations as outlined in the SVSEF Coaches Handbook, SVSEF Technical Handbook & SVSEF Alpine Development Philosophy
