Cross Country Devo South/Striders Head Coach 

The Cross Country Development/Striders Head Coach provides all facets of programming and introduces our youngest K-5th grade athletes to the sport of cross country skiing. The Devo Head Coach and coaching staff strive to establish among our participants the foundations of a lifelong engagement with ski sport and a love for a healthy, active, outdoor lifestyle. This position is seasonal/part-time employment, October 15-March 15. Programs run Monday-Thursday.

Other Responsibilities

  • Devo Ski Equipment:  lease management, repair and maintenance, upkeep, and replacement.
  • Quigley Yurt:  usage, organization, maintenance, snow removal from deck/stairs
  • Parking lot/athlete safety management

Qualifications

  • Cross Country Skier and Coach with an absolute love of skiing that you want to share with our community. Organized and enthusiastic.

More Details

  • Direct all aspects of the Cross Country Development South/Striders Ski Teams, including age appropriate athletic curriculum development, team planning and scheduling, team/employee behavioral expectations, roster management, athlete supervision and management, practice organization, and team travel management/communications. 
  • Supervise and engage assistant coaches to ensure positive role modeling and high quality sport programming is delivered to our participants. This includes teaching cross country ski technique fundamentals, implementation of effective team management strategies and positive individual/team behaviors, and practicing positive engagement with our participants, team and sport.  
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and community partners to help deliver the best program possible. 
  • Manage team rosters, working cooperatively with SVSEF admin staff to ensure participants are appropriately informed of sign up procedures, appropriately registered, and ensure waitlist is managed fairly and efficiently. 
  • Work with the Cross Country Program Director to promote the Devo South/Striders Team and recruit new participants and coaches to the program.
  • Work with the Cross Country Program Director to fulfill Devo South/Striders Head Coach admin responsibilities to include, but not limited to, assistant coach payroll reporting, athlete and employee accident response and reporting, team accounting and travel planning, year end review, planning meetings, and staff reviews. 
  • Manage athlete after school transport strategies and parking lot safety.
  • Assist SVSEF cross country staff to conduct team sponsored events and activities. 
  • Manage Devo Team equipment and uniform programs. 
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of our end of season “Devo Festival.” 
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Devo South/StridersTeams are conducted to the highest professional standards.
