Communications & Development Coordinator
Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, serves nearly 1,000 athletes in the Wood River Valley each year, across 31 teams and seven snowsport disciplines. RESPONSIBILITIES
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Support the Director of Strategic Communications & Development in the implementation of communications strategy and plans.
- Assist the Director of Strategic Communications & Development in gathering/creating story ideas, competition recaps, and photos from programs and events to share across SVSEF social media/blog, newsletters, and with local media.
- Create and post social media and blog content maintaining a consistent and appropriate brand voice representative of all programs; collaborate with programs to share content efficiently.
- Perform ongoing MailChimp audience/contacts/tagging updates and maintenance.
- Monitor SVSEF website and make timely updates within the WordPress platform as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Communications and Development to refine and manage a consistent SVSEF Alumni Program including a newsletter, Alumni events, Alumni gear, and further ways to engage Alumni.
- Assist with USPS bulk mailing for Annual Report and other invitations/mailings.
- Assist with documentation and archiving of SVSEF programs, events, and history through editing, organization, and filing of digital and historical photography; and tracking statistics, awards, scholarships, print and online media stories, and other details as identified.
- Gather end-of-year award recipient details and coordinate updating of perpetual trophy plates and perpetual trophy online landing pages at svsef.org
DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING EVENTS:
- Perform ongoing Bloomerang (CRM) database updates and maintenance and generate reports within Bloomerang as needed.
- Perform gift entries into Bloomerang following the database style guide.
- Create donor gift acknowledgement letters through Bloomerang for the Executive Director to sign; mail gift acknowledgment letters in a timely manner.
- Support development and execution of key fundraising events; assist with coordinating event contractors and with Auction Frogs platform. Help recruit and manage event volunteers through SignUp.com.
- Assist with sponsor recruitment, recognition, and fulfillment of deliverables per sponsorship agreements as needed.
ADMINISTRATION/OTHER:
- Maintain SVSEF online Shopify Store online inventory and update online store as needed; fulfill SVSEF online Shopify Store orders and manage shipping when applicable.
- Coordinate team hat distribution pre-season.
- Provide administrative support and support for special projects as needed.
- Understand and adhere to each of the policies, rules, and requirements as outlined in the SVSEF Staff Handbook.
- Present a professional image of SVSEF when interacting in the community on and off the clock.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience working in donor/fundraising platform/database and knowledge of philanthropy and donor acknowledgement processes and protocols preferred.
- Experience with database administration and spreadsheet software, including updating, managing, and tracking data.
- Strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities.
- Ability to prioritize and execute accurately on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting relevant internal and/or external deadlines.
- Experience working in WordPress, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms.
- Experience creating and posting content to social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook.
- Adaptability and keen interest to learn, operate, and expand knowledge and productivity in a variety of online platforms including Bloomerang (CRM), MailChimp, Shopify, Auction Frogs, Canva, and others as needed.
- Knowledge of the Wood River Valley and SVSEF communities preferred.
EDUCATION/BACKGROUND:
- Degree in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or business administration with a focus on fundraising and/or marketing preferred.
- OR, background in non-profit marketing, donor relations, communications, journalism, or public relations.
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS.
- Requires sitting at a computer for extended periods, initiating conversations, and may require lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Expected to attend SVSEF fundraising events, social events, and other functions when requested, and interface with sponsors, donors, coaches, athletes, parents, and media.
