DUAL DEVO SOUTH

Program: SVSEF Baldy Programs/Cross Country

Team: Dual Devo South

Tuition: $1,550

Grades: 1st-4th

Overview (+ location): The Dual Devo Program is designed to give our families the opportunity to participate in a four day a week program that encompasses both Baldy-based programming (ski and ride), and cross country skiing. Members of the Dual Devo team will be members of both Baldy Devo teams and the South Valley Devo Cross Country Team.

Communication for each aspect of the program will come from the discipline’s head coach.  For full program descriptions of each aspect, please refer to Baldy Devo and Cross Country Devo program overviews.

DEVO SOUTH

Program: Cross Country

Team: Devo South

Tuition: $500

Overview (+ location): No prior experience is required to join. The cross country Devo Team takes new skiers from the first steps of learning how to put on their skis to competency in both skating and classic ski techniques. We coordinate after school transportation from the local public elementary schools to the training centers in partnership with the Blaine County School District.

Winter schedule: Devo South meets two days per week  starts November 27 and runs Tuesdays and Thursdays after school at the QUIGLEY Nordic Center from 3:00 -4:30 pm. SVSEF has a modular, which serves as an indoor meeting facility with gear storage for skiers.

Requirements: Devo participants may lease or purchase combi boots (suitable for skate and classic), skate skis, and poles OR we will provide equipment to skiers as needed. Optional team ski jackets, training pants and ski hats are available for purchase during the season.

Additional training: The Devo Team also offers skiers the opportunity to participate in a variety of team outings in addition to our regularly scheduled practices. These include; backcountry adventures, our annual Bruneau Sand Dunes camping trip, winter backcountry yurt trips and the Intermountain Division Youth Championships.

Competition: The season culminates with our Devo Team Festival  held in early March, the ‘Devo FEST” is both a fun event and season athlete recognition party.

STRIDERS

Program: Cross Country

Team: Striders

Tuition: $175

Overview (+ location): No prior experience is required to join. Striders is a learn-to-cross-country-ski program for South Valley elementary age skiers, grades 1 through 5. This is a great opportunity for young skiers to learn the basics of ski sport. The Striders program runs for five weeks, from mid January through mid February. SVSEF provides after school transport from Bellevue ES, Alturas ES, Syringa School, and Hailey ES to training. All Striders athletes will be outfitted with ski equipment for the duration of the program. The coaching staff is always available to answer and problem-solve equipment questions for participants. Children should wear ski appropriate clothing.

Winter schedule: Ten sessions are held at QUIGLEY Nordic, Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 p.m., beginning Monday, January 28 and ending Saturday, March 2.

Requirements: A US Ski & Snowboard general membership ($15) is required on top of the tuition fee.
