Communications and Development Associate

The Communications and Development Associate will support the Director of Strategic Communications and Development to deliver on communications and development plans. The ideal candidate is expected to work effectively both as a self-starter and team player and be collaborative and detail-oriented in delivering on objectives and priorities.

Specific Duties Will Include
• Collaborate with Director of Strategic Communications and Development on annual editorial calendar and content creation to support editorial objectives.
• In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications and Development, work with Program Directors and Coaches to develop stories/content for SVSEF communication channels (web, social media, media relations).
• Assist with the development of marketing and communications collateral including Annual Reports, fundraising campaigns, and special event promotions as needed.
• Assist with sponsor recognition and fulfilling on deliverables per sponsorship contracts, including but not limited to branding on the athlete and coach jackets.
• Assist with documentation and archiving of SVSEF programs, events, and history through photography, video, interviews, and text.
• Assist with updates to SVSEF website as needed.
• Support Director of Strategic Communications and Development in accurate and timely donor acknowledgement within the Bloomerang donor database (CRM).
• Support Director of Strategic Communications and Development in updating MailChimp database and creating audience segmented e-newsletter communications.
• Collaborate with Director of Strategic Communications and Development to refine and manage SVSEF Alumni Program including newsletter, Alumni gatherings/events when applicable, and further ways to engage Alumni.
• Support SVSEF merchandise ideation, production, and fulfillment for online store as needed.
• Support ideation and execution of key fundraising events; assist in managing contractors and volunteers.

Administration:
• Understand and adhere to each of the policies, rules, and requirements as outlined in the SVSEF Staff Handbook.
• Present a professional image of SVSEF when interacting in the community on and off the clock.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to support and/or manage multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines; ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work; self-starter able to make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities. (AP-style preferred)
• Goal-oriented and persistent in the follow-through and completion of projects.
• Knowledge of the Wood River Valley and SVSEF communities preferred.
• Familiarity with WordPress, Hootsuite, and Canva or similar design software preferred.
• Adaptability and savvy to learn and operate in a variety of online platforms such as Bloomerang, Shopify, Qgiv, Givebutter, and others as needed.

Physical Requirements:
• Requires sitting at a computer for extended periods, initiating conversations, and may require lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Expected to attend SVSEF fundraising events, social events, and other functions when requested, and interface with sponsors, donors, coaches, athletes, parents, and media.
